Information related to student mailing
- What is this service?
Microsoft Office 365 is available free of charge to the students at the university, using which the university has also developed a unified student mailing system for official communication.
The service includes:
- Cloud-based e-mail and calendar service via Microsoft Exchange Online with a university domain name. (@mailbox.unideb.hu domain), 50 GB storage space per user
- Online office documents: create and edit Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote documents on web interface
- OneDrive storage: OneDrive provides each user with 100 GB of personal cloud storage accessible from anywhere
- Shared documents: share your documents stored in the cloud with your peers
- How can I use the service?
The service requires the existence of a network ID (Eduid identification) created at the University of Debrecen, which had to be created according to the steps included in the "Network ID (Eduid)" section of the information sheet provided to the students who were admitted to the university (Enrolment information), and together with the ID provided at the time of creation, your M365 mailbox for student mailing (eduid@mailbox.unideb.hu) was created.
This identifier provides access to a number of computer services (e.g. e-learning, restricted web content, Wifi, Neptun, etc.).
To start unified student mailing, use the following steps:
1: Open your browser.
2: Enter the website address mailbox.unideb.hu.
3: You can access your mailbox according to the information on the website. Click on Microsoft 365 in the quick links menu on the left (https://outlook.office.com), and you can access the system by entering the required data.
- Why is a university email address important?
The university e-mail address is the official channel of communication with the university for students admitted and starting their studies from the academic year 2023/24, and the university sends its notifications to this address.
For students admitted before the academic year 2023/24, the university e-mail address cannot be considered an official e-mail address yet, therefore it is not mandatory to use it as a primary e-mail address.
- How long can I use the service?
As long as you continue your studies at university. If your legal relationship with the university is terminated, your cloud account will be deactivated and deleted after 3 months. Therefore, it is advisable to save your data in the cloud, which you want to keep, at the end of your last university year.
